As Northern Ireland’s only full-time producing theatre, Belfast’s Lyric Theatre plays a unique and central role within the cultural life of city, region and beyond.

The new Lyric Theatre opened in April 2011 and includes a 375-seat main theatre, a studio, and a rehearsal room. The auditorium and production facilities form the heart of a facility that provides a holistic experience for theatre-goers. Acoustically, the two auditoria are optimised for speech clarity, vocal projection, and a wide dynamic range allowing and encouraging a new level of intensity of experience and artistic growth.

Working in collaboration with Irish award-winning architects O’Donnell+Tuomey, Sound Space Design provided services covering auditorium acoustics design, noise and vibration control, and sound isolation of spaces from the outside city environs.
