Senior Consultant at AMPC since 2005 and now Principal, Performance at Sound Space Vision, Liz began her career

in theatre planning at Theatre Projects (1995-1999), contributing to several project, including The Royal Court Theatre, London; the Lowry Centre in Salford; at the Stratford Circus Performing Arts Centre; and, in the concept stage, at The Sage in Gateshead. Previously, Liz was Head of Drama from 1987 to1989 at the Barbara Speake Stage School in London.

Liz combines her experience as a drama teacher and her set design research with her architectural skills to form workable and inspiring theatre spaces for the future. In her early days while working on seating, sightlines and staging of the new permanent outdoor performance space, Annette Strauss Square in the Dallas Arts District, and a demanding brief within the found-space in a listed church for the Godolphin & Latymer School in London, she simultaneously also project-managed the new Hull Truck Theatre on-site. Her effective communication skills maintained a strong, continuing relationship which contributed to a successful, and multi-award-winning project completion.

Involved in many consultation processes with clients, users, end-users and publically interested bodies, Liz turns aspirations into practicable working briefs whether pedagogical, community or commercially-led projects, most notably with the International School of Geneva in 2009. In 2010, Liz collaborated on a lengthy consultation study for the re-design of the St. Andrew’s Hall, a Grade I listed monastic friary – an 800-seat concert hall and other performance and conference facilities, programming all the stakeholder’s needs firmly in the brief.

Liz has worked on many inspiring projects within a historical framework. Cutting her teeth at the renovation of The Royal Court Theatre, London which opened in 2000, she has since been part of the design team and project-managed The New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth in 2015, which included a new fly tower onto the existing Frank Matcham auditorium. As project consultant for the comprehensive refurbishment of interior spaces at the IET’s Savoy Place London HQ, Liz lead the SSV team on the principal lecture theatres, front-of-house event spaces and seminar rooms, where our creative expertise covered theatre planning, seating and sightlines, production lighting, and the architectural lighting inside and to the building’s façade.

Currently project-managing the construction phase of the reconfiguration and renovation of England’s prestigious Royal Academy of Arts, Liz also is the theatre consultancy design lead on the rehearsal space for the London School of Economics and Political Science.
